Capabilities Workshops
NOAO has organized or participated in several community workshops focused on the use and development of specific capabilities

Committees
NOAO has established committees to study and advise on aspects or parts of the ground-based OIR System.
- The Ground-based O/IR System Roadmap Committee carried out a community survey and issued a summary report in January 2012.
- The ReSTAR (Renewing Small Telescopes for Astronomical Research) committee carried out a community survey and issued a report in January 2008. This committee reconvened and produced an update in August 2010.
- The ALTAIR (Access to Large Telescopes for Astronomical Instruction and Research) committee carried out a community survey and issued a report in March 2009.
