NOAO is working with SLAC and with the LSST Corporation (LSSTC) to prepare the broad community for the arrival of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST).  The common goals are to:

  1. stimulate LSST pathfinder scientific research in advance of the survey;
  2. help the LSST science community organize itself to meet the challenges of LSST-based research; and
  3. provide an interface between the LSST research community and LSST Project during the construction phase.

To these ends, NOAO is building on its long-standing relationship with the broad astronomy community, while SLAC builds on its close link to the Dark Energy Science Collaboration.

Our current activity and plans are summarized in this April 2014 presentation to the LSST Board.
