NOAO System Science Center

The NOAO System Science Center (NSSC) is a division of NOAO and consists of four programs: System User Support (SUS), Science Data Management (SDM), System Community Development (SCD), and the Telescope Allocation Committee (TAC). Overall, NSSC provides the following services:

  • User support for observing proposal preparation and submission for all System facilities.
  • Help with questions about post-observing data processing.
  • User support and advocacy for the US Gemini partner share through the US National Gemini Office.
  • Support for the data management needs of NOAO and its user community.
  • Support and advocacy for the LSST user community through the LSST Community Center
  • Advocacy for the open US user community in the TMT Project
  • Management of the TAC process of scientific assessment and ranking of observing proposals for all NOAO-coordinated facilities.
  • Assistance to selected non-NOAO facilities with their interfaces to the community-at-large.
  • Organizational support for the community-at-large in defining and prioritizing new capabilities of the System.
  • Advertisement of current and new System capabilities to the widest possible audience.
