The Navy Precision Optical Interferometer on Anderson Mesa near Flagstaff is operated by the USNO Flagstaff Station in collaboration with the Naval Research Lab and the Lowell Observatory. NPOI offers spectrally resolved imaging in the visible with up to 6 telescopes (current effective apertures 15 cm) on baselines up to 79 meters. A multibeam combiner supports imaging with spectral resolution in the range R = 30-50. NPOI has developments in progress for several upgrades including larger telescope apertures, additional telescopes, longer baselines and infrared operation. NPOI also has a unique astrometric capability which can provide absolute celestial positions to within a few milliarcseconds.
