- O/IR System
IGRINS was a visiting instrument at Gemini South provided by KASI and UT Austin in 2018A. IGRINS is a high-resolution (R=45000) near-IR (H and K bands) spectrograph.
Below are a few data reduction notes. IGRINS is supported by UT Austin and more extensive documentation is available from them.
1) For the data we were sent from Gemini were reduced with the automatic pipeline. The telluric reference star was the closest star observed in time to the target star. We discovered looking at the logs that more suitable telluric reference stars existed.
2) Our experience has been that while the individual orders are of high quality joining the orders can involve considerable effort. It is possible that this is a Gemini feature resulting from the pupil illumination in Gemini flats. Dick Joyce and Joe Llama (Lowell) have been investigating this problem.
