- O/IR System
GPI obtains extreme AO images in either a spectroscopic or polarimetric format. The instrument uses a micro-lensed integral field design resulting in a complex data format. Details about the instrument and its use can be found on the GPI web page.
In addition to the web pages the instrument design is discussed by Macintosh et al. 2006, Proc. SPIE, 6272.
Due to complex nature of the data it must be reduced using the GPI data pipeline presented at http://docs.planetimager.org/pipeline/
A broad overview of GPI was given by Carrasco at the 2014 Guaruja meeting. A much more detailed overview can be obtained in papers by Perrin and collaborators largely published by the SPIE. An overview of the GPI data reduction pipeline by Perrin, Maire, Ingraham, et al. (2014, SPIE 9147) is part of this series. This paper also provides links to the other papers of the series. The GPI data reduction pipeline is also discussed in Maire, Perrin, Doyon et al. (2010, SPIE 7735) and Maire, Perrin, Doyon et al. (2012, SPIE 8451).
NOAO staff used the GPI data pipeline to reduce both spectroscopic and polarmetric system verification data. We prepared the attached report in late 2014.
