About the Director
David Silva became Director of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) on July 7, 2008. He succeeded Todd Boroson, who served as interim Director from April 30, 2007 until July 7, 2008, and Jeremy Mould, who served as Director from January 2001 until April 30, 2007. Prior to his appointment at NOAO, Dr. Silva served as Observatory Scientist with the Thirty Meter Telescope project. Previous to that, he was responsible for data management and user support at the European Southern Observatory.
Dr. Silva received his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1991 and a bachelor of sciences degree from the University of Arizona.
